    On June 20, 1907, Mr. Schmucker was united in marriage with Miss Rose Bracken, of Indiana County, Pa., where she was born Sept. 30, 1878. They have three daughters: Ethel, born Jan. 25, 1910; Mary, born Jan. 21, 1913; and Helen, born Aug. 30, 1917.
    Mr. Schmucker is a Republican, a member of the First Brethren Church and the Maccabees.




    Reynold Lamont, popular and successful manager of the St. James Hotel at Nanty Glo, is a native of Scotland. He was born Oct. 27, 1860, and is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Pollock) Lamont, and a grandson of Daniel Lamont, of Ireland.
    Thomas Lamont spent his entire life in Scotland is deceased. He was a shoe manufacturer and was successfully engaged in that business for a number of years. To Mr. and Mrs. Lamont the following children were born: Rachel, married William Rumgey, lives at Portland, Ore.; Catherine, lives in Scotland; Jennie, Rose Ann, and Elizabeth, all deceased; and Reynold, the subject of this sketch.
    Reynold Lamont was educated in the schools of his native land and is a graduate of Thompson Academy. In 1881, he came to the United States and settled in Lycoming County, Pa. He removed to Clearfield County in 1894, where he worked in the mines until November, 1904, at which time he purchased the Mountain House, Janesville, Pa., which he successfully conducted until May, 1912. During this time the Mountain House ranked among the finest and most up-to-date hostelries in the state. In 1912 Mr. Lamont removed to Nanty Glo, and on June 3rd of that year purchased the St. James Hotel from Mathew Nerin, which he has since successfully operated. Numerous travelers who formerly were guests at the Mountain House have made it a point to stop at the St. James Hotel, being assured they will receive the same courteous service here.
    In 1882 Mr. Lamont was married to Miss Catherine Brogan, a daughter of William and Mary (Crawford) Brogan. Mr. Brogan was a miner and lost his life in the mines when Mrs. Lamont was six years of age. Her mother was later married to James O'Reilly, and to this union three children were born: Anna, Sarah, and Joseph. To Mr. and Mrs. Lamont seven children were born, as follows: (1) Thomas, lives at Patton, married Jane Dumey, and to them have been born nine children: Reynold,
