W. J. Price, proprietor of the Lake Hotel at South Fork, is a leading business man of Cambria County. He was born in Juniata County, Pa., Sept. 25, 1884, and is the son of Edward and Emma (Joll) Price. W. C. Stricker, cashier of the First National Bank of South Fork, is esteemed throughout the community as a prominent and successful man. He was born at Belleville, Jan. 21, 1895, and is the son of J. A. and Mary J. (Matteer) Stricker. J. A. Stricker, deceased, was a native of Switzerland. When 18 years of age he came to this country and settled on a farm near Belleville, Pa.; where he spent the remainder of his life. His widow was born at Belleville, where she resides. W. C. Stricker received his education in the public schools and was graduated from Belleville High School in 1914. He at once entered the Belleville National Bank, where he remained until 1918, at which time he was appointed assistant cashier of the First National Bank of South Fork. He was elected cashier in 1924. On Oct. 5, 1914, Mr. Stricker was united in marriage with Miss Mary H. Stroup of Belleville. They have had three children: Gladys and William; and Robert, who died at the age of 18 months. |
