Title, Savings & Trust Company at Ebensburg in 1916, and served in this capacity until his death, which occurred March 10, 1926. He was buried in Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. James Gibbs Hasson, deceased, was a highly esteemed and prominent citizen of Ebensburg and Cambria County. He was born in Ebensburg, May 1, 1847, and was the only son of the late Attorney Michael and Susan E. (Scanlan) Hasson. Michael Hasson was a noted lawyer. He was admitted to the bar of Cambria county March 31, 1841, with the late Hon. Robert L. Johnston, first president judge of Cambria County. Michael Hasson was born at Fincairn Crossroads, in the Parish of Banagher, Feeny, County Derry, Ireland, in 1810. The Hassons came from Ireland and before locating in the United States resided for a time in Quebec, Canada. Michael Hasson located in Philadelphia, later resided in Newry, Blair County, Pa., and then came to Ebensburg, where he died, Oct. 9, 1866. Besides being a prominent attorney Mr. Hasson was a master of various languages and while residing in Newry taught languages in the schools of that place. Upon coming to the county seat he taught in the old Ebensburg Academy at a time when the late June Robert L. Johnston was a member of the faculty. He was deputy attorney general (now the office of district attorney) for Cambria County from 1845 to 1849, and served as a member of the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania in the forties and was elected to the office of register of wills and recorder of deeds for Cambria County in 1857. James Gibbs Hasson was a law student in his father's office when the latter passed away.
