Charles Hasson has always lived in Ebensburg. He attended Holy Name parochial school and the public schools, after which he learned the printing trade, his father having purchased the Cambria Freeman from Henry A. McPike in May, 1884. Mr. Hasson was employed in his father's printing office until July, 1903, and for many years was a writer for city newspapers. He then studied law in the office of M. D. Kittell, Esq., of Ebensburg, for three years, and was admitted to practice in the several courts of Cambria County on Dec. 13, 1905. Mr. Hasson then established his practice in Ebensburg, in the Law Building, Centre Street, and has continued to practice law in the same location ever since. He has always enjoyed a large general practice.
Mr. Hasson clerked in the courts of Cambria County under Prothonotary George Walker Williams and Clerk of Courts Frank C. Robb for several years. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the American National Bank of Ebensburg from August, 1922, until February, 1926, when he resigned from the directorate of the American National Bank in order to accept the position of general solicitor of the Cambria Title, Savings & Trust Company of Ebensburg, which position he held until the affairs of the Trust Company were sold and merged with the Ebensburg Trust Company, which was incorporated August 10, 1926, Mr. Hasson being one of its incorporators. The new banking institution was organized August 12, 1926, with Mr. Hasson as its Secretary-Treasurer and a member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Hasson has been active in the management of the Ebensburg Trust Company since its incorporation.
On Sept. 24, 1917, Mr. Hasson was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Loretta Minahan, of Johnstown, the daughter of William and Mary Louise (Dowling) Minahan. Mr. Minahan was born in Limerick, County Cork, Ireland, and his wife was born in Connaught, County Mayo, Ireland. He died in Johnstown, Oct. 19, 1905, and his widow continued to reside on Broad Street, Johnstown, until her death, March 9, 1926. To Mr. and Mrs. Hasson a son has been born: Charles Gibbs Hasson, born June 19, 1920.
In politics Mr. Hasson is identified with the Democratic party, and he and his family are members of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg.
