in business at Ashville, Pa., for several years, and in October, 1910, purchased the business of C. A. Buck at Carrolltown, which he has since conducted in a highly successful manner. The Stevens funeral home is modern in its appointments and he is recognized as one of the reliable business men of the community.
    On Jan. 3, 1902, Mr. Stevens was married it Miss Agnes Eberly of Altoona, the daughter of John and Margaret (McCoy) Eberly. To Mr. and Mrs. Stevens the following children have been born: Matilda M., at home; Alice M., deceased; John, associated in business with his father; Paul Frederick, Rose Mary, Patrick, Cyril and Bernard.
    Mr. Stevens is president of the Kiwanis Club of Northern Cambria and is affiliated with the Knights of Columbus. He and his family hold membership in the Catholic Church.




    Ralph Elliott Good is a prominent business man of Patton, where he is identified with the Patton Clay Manufacturing Company as secretary. He was born at Lock Haven, Pa., Jan. 7, 1882, and is the son of George Smith and Kathryn A. (Baker) Good.
    The Good family originally came from Holland and settled near Easton, Pa., in the middle of the seventeenth century. George Smith Good, deceased, was a veteran of the Civil War. He was born at Milton, Pa., and during his life engaged in contracting and clay manufacturing. He was also identified with railroad work through New Mexico and Oklahoma for a number of years. He died Oct. 14, 1913, and is buried at Lock Haven, Pa. Mr. Good served throughout the Civil war as a member of Company I, Eighty-fourth Regular Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, with the rank of second lieutenant. He was wounded and captured in the battle of Chancellorsville, and taken to Libby Prison, from which he made his escape with 110 other prisoners. However, they were recaptured about 48 hours later and returned to the prison. After about 14 months of confinement they were exchanged. Kathryn A. (Baker) Good, who resides at Lock Haven, Pa., was born at Milton, Pa. Her family was of English and German extraction, her father's people having emigrated from Germany to this country in 1812, settling at Reading, Pa.
