station work at McKee, Pa. In 1891 he went to Roaring Spring as clerk to the agent at that point, and from there was transferred to various points on the Altoona Divison. In December, 1892, he was transferred to Spangler, Pa., then a part of the Altoona Division, as clerk-operator to Agent James A. McCain. The following year he was sent to Cherry Tree, Pa., as agent of the Pennsylvania Railroad, where he remained until 1895, when he was again stationed at Spangler. In the fall of 1897 he was transferred to the Cresson Division. On Jan. 1, 1900, he was appointed agent of the Pennsylvania Railroad at Ashville, Pa., and two years later was sent to Wehrum, Pa., as agent. On June 22, 1903, Mr. Gorsuch was promoted to agent at Patton.
    On Oct. 14, 1903, Mr. Gorsuch was united in marriage with Miss Katherine Sarah Boyce, a native of Eldorado, Pa., the daughter of Jacob Allison and Sarah Ann (Lantz) Boyce, natives of Pennsylvania. Mr. Boyce died Dec. 26, 1915, and his wife died Jan. 16, 1909. To Mr. and Mrs. Gorsuch four children have been born: Donald Boyce, was drowned Aug. 11, 1923; Kathryn Elizabeth, John Henderson, and Levi Gates, Jr., all at home.
    Mr. Gorsuch is a Republican and has served as a member of the Patton Borough School Board since 1907, and as president since 1908. He and his family hold membership in the Church of God, Patton, and are highly esteemed members of the community in which they live.




    Hugh L. Kelly, borough tax collector of Nanty Glo, is a substantial citizen of Cambria County. He was born in Johnstown, Jan.12, 1889, and is the son of Patrick and Mary (Scoville) Kelly.
    Patrick Kelly, retired, is a native of Cambria County. He engaged in farming during his active career and operated 50 acres of land near Twin Rocks. He is a Democrat and a member of the Catholic Church. His wife was born in Michigan and died in Oct. 1917. She is buried in Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. To Mr. and Mrs. Kelly 11 children were born, as follows: Hugh L., the subject of this sketch; Harry and Charles, live at Youngstown, Ohio; Rose, a teacher, lives in Cleveland, Ohio; Flora, lives at home; Walter, serving in the U. S. Cavalry, at Cheyenne, Wyo; John, lives at Nanty Glo; William; and two children died in infancy.
