at Altoona, Pa. To Mr. and Mrs. Veil six children have been born: Dorothy Mae, a graduate of Cresson High School; Frederick W., Jr., a graduate of Cresson High School and employed by the Pennsylvania Coal & Coke Company; Charles Henry; Henry; Mary Elizabeth; and Jean Virginia. Dr. C.E. Overberger, an efficient and popular dentist of Barnesboro, was born in Patton, Cambria County, on Oct. 13, 1888. His parents were John B. and Helena (Huber) Overberger. John B. Overberger was born in Carl Township, May 17, 1856, and is a son of Michael Overberger, who was born in the Province of Bavaria, Germany, and came to the United States and settled in Johnstown, Pa. He later moved to Patton, where he lived until his death at the age of 73 years. He is buried in St. Benedict's Cemetery. He worked in the mills in Johnstown until he was incapacitated for that kind of work owing to an accident, after which he took up farming. John B. Overberger was a school teacher for many years, and also followed rafting on the Susquehanna River. He now lives retired on a farm of 60 acres, where he has lived for the past 69 years. He is a member of the Catholic Church, and held various township offices and has been active on the school board, and as tax collector, and at present is assessor. Mrs. Overberger was born in Elder Township, near Hastings, on Aug. 5, 1859. Her parents were Charles and Katherine (Noel) Hoover, natives of Germany, who lived near the River Rhine. They came to the United States and settled on a farm near Hastings, Pa., where they spent the remainder of their lives. They are buried in St. Bernards Cemetery, Hastings. To Mr. and Mrs. John B. Overberger seven children were born, as follows: Benedict, a graduate of Pittsburgh University, where he was an honor man, was principal of the Carrolltown School, and for the past 16 years has been practicing dentistry, lives in Patton; Mary, has taught music for the past 20 years, resides in Patton; Barbara, a graduate of Indiana Normal of Indiana, Pa., a teacher in the Patton schools, resides at home; C.E., the subject of this sketch; Edwin, principal of the Cresson schools for four years; Kaytherine, who is a housekeeper for the family; and Isidore, a banker, lives in Patton.
