850 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

Mrs. Leadbetter five children have been born: David, married Maud Duke, lives in Wells Creek, Somerset County, where he superintendent of the Pennsylvania Smith & Coal Company; John D., married Fannie Palmer, resides in Barnesboro. He is a mine foreman for the Empire coal mine and has been associated with his father since he was old enough to work; Mark, married Mrs. Bessie Goock, resides in Barnesboro, where he is a doctor of dental surgery, with offices in the Morris Drug Store Building; William M., married Ellen Lechornack, resides in Barnesboro, where he had charge of the surveryers of the company. He also holds a mine foreman's certificate; and Mae, married Mecellius Drias, resides in Barnesboro. Mr. Drias conducts a clothing store at Cherry Tree, Pa.
    Mr. Leadbetter is a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Colorado and the Knights of Pythias of Clymer. He served as a member of the Spangler School Board for eight years, and as councilman in Patton, where he resided for two years. He is a Republican.




    E. W. Walsh, well known as the manager, secretary and treasurer of the Economy Furniture Store and vice president of the Citizens Bank of Barnesboro, is a native of Pennsylvania, born in Houtsdale, Cambria County, Jan. 21, 1881. His parents were Moses and Catherine (Pettit) Walsh.
    Moses Walsh was born in County Wicklow, Ireland, in 1840, and his wife, a native of the same county, was born in 1839. He came to America when quite a young man and was employed as a plasterer. He married Catherine Pettit in New York City and they came to Pennsylvania, where Mr. Walsh followed mining in the hard coal mines. In 1875 they removed to Osceola, Clearfield County, where he followed mining. He died Sept. 4, 1912, an his wife died six days later. They are both buried in Holy Cross
