World war veteran, having served with the Three Hundred Fifth Engineering Corps, Eightieth Division, lives in California; George, a World war veteran, lives in Illinois; Catherine, a sister, English Lutheran Church, Baltimore; Clara, married William Blair, lives in Johnstown; Margaret, married Graybell Myers, lives in Johnstown; Richard, associated in business with his brothers, Louis and Herman; and Theodore, a student.
    Herman Schubert attended the schools of Johnstown, and when a young man entered the employ of the Cambria Steel Company and was later connected with the Lorain Steel Company as a machinist. In 1919 the present business was established in partnership with his brothers. They do repair work on automobile radiators and have a well established business.
    Mr. Schubert is a Republican and holds membership in the Lutheran Church. He has a wide acquaintance in Johnstown and is a substantial citizen.




     H. C. Lockard, a representative citizen and successful business man of Johnstown, is a native of Pennsylvania. He was born at Mt. Union, Huntingdon County, in 1871, and is the son of Jacob C. Lockard, and the grandson of John Lockard, who was of Scotch-Irish extraction and settled at New Granada, Fulton County, Pa., where he engaged in farming.
    Jacob C. Lockard, son of John Lockard, was born in 1821, and was brought up in Fulton County, where he enlisted during the Civil war in Colonel Decker's regiment, serving throughout the conflict. After his return home he entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, and was later employed by the East Broad Top Railroad Company. At the time of his death he held the office of supervisor. Mrs. Lockard died in 1914 and is buried in Huntingdon County, Pa. To Mr. and Mrs. Lockard the following children were born: David B., married Anna Early; Winfield Scott, married Sally Brightbill; Thomas G., died in 1921; Annie B., deceased, was the wife of Jacob Sproul; Ella M., died in 1924, was a public school teacher for more than 40 years; and H.C., the subject of this sketch.
    H. C. Lockard, son of Jacob C. and Elizabeth Frances (Willett) Lockard, was educated in the schools of Orbisonia, Huntingdon County, and was afterward employed as a clerk by E.M. McNeil and by the firm of Reed & Gilliand, of Orbisonia. He then moved to Johnstown, where for
