they have five children, Hershell, Vern, John Jay, and Warren; Walter, married Goldie Crawford, lives at Salix; and Mabel, attends Salix High School.
    Mr. Horner is a director of the Salix State Bank and a director of the Sterling Commercial Mortgage Company of Johnstown. He is a Republican and has served as school director of Adams Township for 12 years. He is a member of the United Brethren Church and the Grange. Mr. Horner was active in the organization of the Cambria County Fair Association and served as a delegate from Adams Township.




    Charles Francis Mulhollen, manager of the Portage Storage Battery Company, is recognized as one of the progressive citizens of Cambria County and is a World war veteran. He was born in Summerhill Township, this county, Aug. 23, 1890, and is the son of Peter L. and Rachel (Himes) Mulhollen.
    Peter L. Mulhollen was born in Cambria County in 1851 and died Dec. 28, 1920. For many years he engaged in general farming and stock raising, but in later life was a coal miner. With the exception of a few years he spent his entire life in Summerhill Township, where he is buried. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. His wife, also a native of Cambria County, was born in 1855, and died Oct. 23, 1917. To Mr. and Mrs. Mulhollen the following children were born: Lawrence, Louis, Wallace, and Ellsworth, all deceased: Albert, a farmer, married Eliza Walls, lives at Philipsburg, Pa.; Philip E., married Etta Long, lives at Johnstown; John L., lives at Detroit, Mich; and Charles Francis, the subject of this sketch.
    In the rural school near his birthplace Charles Francis Mulhollen received his education. He spent four years in the mines of Cambria County and then removed to Portage, where he was employed as an automobile mechanic. During the World war Mr. Mulhollen served in France with the Three Hundred Fifth Mobile Veterinary Section, Eightieth Division, and saw active service at the front. He was discharged from service June 3, 1919, and returned to Portage, where in 1921 he established his present business in partnership with James G. Campbell. They carry on a general battery business and are local dealers for the Pennzoil Company. They are also dealers for the Atwater Kent radio.
