1002 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

    On April 9, 1912, Mr. Kemerer was married to Miss Emily Davis, the daughter of Abner and Margaret (Boher) Davis, natives of Bedford County. Mr. Davis served during the Civil War as a member of Company H, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry, and was severely wounded, losing the sight of one eye. He was discharged as a member of Company E, 3rd Pennsylvania Regulars, Oct. 31, 1965, and engaged in farming during the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. To Mr. and Mrs. Davis five children were born: William, lives retired at Bedford, Pa.; Emily Kemerer; Nettie, married Benjamin Grove, lives in Johnstown; Harry J., lives at Bedford, Pa.; and Lilly, married Reverend Weyent, lives at Waterloo, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Kemerer have no children.
    Mr. Kemerer is a Republican, a member of the Presbyterian Church and Nanty Glo Business Men's Association. He has always taken an active interest in the affairs of his community.




    W. C. Nenninger, supervising principal of the schools at Expedit, is a prominent citizen of Cambria County. He was born at Shippensburg, Pa., Oct. 22, 1896, and is the son of George and Edna (Railing) Nenninger
    George Nenninger is a prosperous farmer of Shippensburg, where he owns and operates a farm of 107 acres. He was born at that place in August, 1870, and is the son of Fred and Emma (Clever) Nenninger, natives of Germany, and early settlers of Pennsylvania. Fred Nenninger, deceased, is buried at Jacksonville, Pa. His widow resides near Shippensburg. Edna (Railing) Nenninger was born near Shippensburg in 1869 and is the daughter of Joseph and Lydia (Fogelsonger) Railing, of England, both of whom are deceased and buried at Shippensburg. George Neninger is a Democrat and an active member of the Church of the Brethren at Shippensburg. Six children were born to George and Edna (Railing) Nenninger: J. Earl, lives at Harrisburg, Pa., where he is identified with the Harrisburg Railway Company; W. C., the subject of this sketch; C. Lester, Edna, Emma, and Elizabeth, all at home.
    After completing his early education in the schools of Southampton Township, Cumberland County, Pa., W. C. Nenninger was graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1916 and from Shippensburg Normal School in 1918. He spent the following two years in the employ of the Harrisburg Railway Company, after which he served as principal of schools in
