friend at all times, and at his death members of his regiment erected a monument to his memory at Greensburg, Pa. John Siberts, burgess of Hastings, is a representative citizen of Cambria County. He was born at Homer City, Indiana County, Pa.; Jan. 25, 1882, and is the son of Adam and Sarah (Lilly) Siberts. Adam Siberts was a native of Germany, as was his wife. They were early settlers in Indiana County, where Mr. Siberts was extensively engaged in the lumber business. He died in 1888 and is buried at Altoona, Pa. His widow died in 1905. They were the parents of the following children: Benjamin and Harry, deceased; William, lives at Hastings; Margaret, married Joseph Yeager, lives at Phoenix, Ariz.; John, the subject of this sketch; and Lulu, deceased. John Siberts entered the mines when he was 12 years of age as a driver. Eight years later he became interested in the theatrical business and for 12 years was manager of the Hastings Opera house. In 1911 he became proprietor of the Hastings Auto Company and conducted that business as Ford and Dodge agent in Hastings until 1923, when he disposed of the business and conducted a billiard parlor until it was destroyed by fire. Mr. Siberts has served as burgess of Hastings since Jan. 1, 1926. Before his election he had served as a member of the council for 11 years. On Nov. 23, 1899, Mr. Siberts was united in marriage with Miss Josephine Lacour of Houtzdale, the daughter of Peter and Josephine Lacour, natives of France, and both now deceased.
