HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY | 1061 | |
William Fisher is a substantial citizen of South Fork, where he is in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He was born in Westmoreland County, Pa., Dec. 25, 1865, and is the son of George and Rose (Poncil) Fisher. George Fisher, deceased, was a native of Pennsylvania, born in 1835. He was a shoemaker by trade. He died in 1900 and his wife, also a native of Pennsylvania, died in 1875. William Fisher received his education in the district schools and in 1881 entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad as a telegraph operator at New Derry. In 1890 he was transferred to Everson, Pa., and in 1897 to South Fork, where he has since served as train dispatcher. In 1898 Mr. Fisher was married to Miss Mary F. Carter, the daughter of John and Bridget Carter, residents of Scottsdale, Pa. They have three daughters, Clara, Pauline and Mary, all at home. Mr. Fisher is a Democrat, and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He and his family are held in high regard throughout the community. |
