with whom he was identified for three years. In 1910 he became associated with the Great American Tea Company and remained with the Cumberland branch until 1916, when he was sent to Altoona, Pa., as manager of that store. In 1925 Mr. Holdeman was transferred to the Johnstown branch. The company has been established in this city for many years and has a well established trade in teas, coffees, extracts and spices. Territory covered by the local store includes Cambria, Somerset and Westmoreland counties.
    Mr. Holdeman was married Nov. 26, 1919, to Miss Elizabeth M. Schmunkart, of Pittsburgh. They have two children, James and Virginia.
    Mr. Holdeman is a member of St. John's Catholic Church and has a wide acquaintance in Johnstown and the surrounding community.




    H. B. Haarlander, president and general manager of the American Specialty Stamping Company, is a successful and well known business man of Johnstown. He was born at Allegheny City, Pa., April 4, 1874, and is the son of August and Martha (Seibert) Haarlander.
    August Haarlander, deceased, was a native of Germany. At the age of nine years he emigrated to this country with his parents and settled in Allegheny County. Mr. Haarlander served as general manager of the Standard Manufacturing Company for many years. They were manufacturers of enameled cooking utensils. He died in 1892 and his widow, also a native of Germany, resides at Allegheny City. Mr. and Mrs. Haarlander had two sons: H. B., the subject of this sketch; and John, lives at Allegheny City.
    H. B. Haarlander received his education in the public schools and until 1892 was employed by his father. He spent the following nine years with the Victor Manufacturing Company at Blairsville, Pa, after which he was connected with the Indiana Manufacturing Company, at Jefferson City, Pa., for four years. Mr. Haarlander then came to Johnstown as superintendent of the American Specialty Stamping Company, and after six years in that capacity was elected president and general manager. The other officers of the company are: Edward G. Strauss, vice president; W. J. Fenn, treasurer; and R. F. Rutledge, secretary. The above named and W. H. Strauss compose the board of directors.
