COUPLE MARRIED The marriage of Miss Elise Jones and Cullen Shorter, both of Conemaugh, was soleminized Tuesday evening by Alderman Edward E. Levergood. PLEASANT PARTY AT WILMORE RESIDENCE Wilmore, March 6. -- A very enjoyable birthday party was held for Miss Madeline Dugan at the home of her brother, Charles E. Dugan, on Tuesday evening. Games and music were the feature of the evening. A dainty lunch was served. Those present were: Misses Francis Eggie, Ethel Coudriet, Veronica Smith, Eva Sickles, Ruth Crum, Georgie Di Fulrio, Mary Charnick, Agnes McChessney, Emma McChessney, Elsie Dugan, and Madeline Dugan; Messrs. William Frazier, Franklin Frazier, Raymond Coudriet, Walter McDunn, Robert Hess, Daniel Di Fulrio, Harry Dugan, Elmer Dugan, Francis Meyers, Mr. and Mrs. Coudriet, Mr. and Mrs. Meyers, Mrs. Charles F. Dugan, Mrs. Charles McChessney, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Crum, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Dugan. HERBERT F. TURGEON. Herbert Francis Turgeon, aged 26 years. of Deaverdale, died at 7:30 o'clock last evening at the Mercy Hospital following an operation for appendicitis and hernia. He was admitted to the Eighth Ward Institution last Sunday. The deceased was employed as a mechanic by the Logan Coal Company at Beaverdale and had worked up until last Saturday afternoon. He became seriously ill on Sunday and was rushed to the Mercy Hospital. Mr. Turgeon was a State game official and forest fire warden in the Beaverdale section and had a large circle of friends. The deceased was born in Dunlo on June 9, 1897. He was a son of Frank and Celes Turgeon. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lillian (Parks) Turgeon, and two sons, Ernest, aged four years, and William, aged one year; also his parents and three brothers, Frank Turgeon, Jr., Well-known local photographer; Edward Turgeon, of Beaverdale, and Henry Turgeon, at home. The body was removed to Beaverdale by Undertakers R. E. Donnelly & Son and prepared for burial. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in St. Agnes' Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Cemetery in Dunlo. IN MEMORIAM. In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Edward Eugene Heilman, who died one year ago today. Funeral services will be held in the Polish Catholic Church, the time not yet having been set. Interment will be in the church cemetery, in charge of Undertaker C. O. Dimond. STATE TROOPERS RAID NANT-Y-GLO Officers Swoop Down Upon Private and Public Places; Several Arrested Nant-Y-Glo, March 26. -- A wholesale raid on a number of private and public places was made yesterday afternoon by a detail of State Police from the Greensburg barracks, this being the first visit of troopers in this section since prohibition became effective. Several persons were placed under arrest by State Police on charges of violating the liquor laws and conducting fambling houses, it is understood that three of the persons caught in the raid have posted bail for the June term of Criminal Court at Ebensburg. Efforts to obtain complete information regarding the raids made by the State Police were futile today, owing to telephone communication to Nant-y-Glo and also to the Greensburg barracks being out of transmission as a result of last night's heavy fall of snow.   2 May 1924 Pg. 30 Submitted by Kelly Kendig FIFTEEN GRADS TO RECEIVE DIPLOMAS Commencement Exercises for Lorain Borough grade pupils at Auditorium Commencement exercises in honor of the 1924 graduates of the Lorain Borough public grade school will be held this evening in the School auditorium, commencing at 7:30 o'clock. Diplomas will be presented to 15 graduates. Frank Berisik is the valedictorian of the class. The salutatorian is Dorothy Hampton. Prof. M. S. Bentz, of Ebensburg, Superintendent of the Cambria County schools, will be the principal speaker. Presentation of diplomas will be by H. S. Ober, President of the Borough School Board. Music will be furnished by a special orchestra. There will be a reception for the graduates at the schoolhouse following the commencement exercises. The commencement program will be as follows: Music, orchestra; invocation, the Rev. L. A. Chapman; salutatory address, Dorothy Hampton; music, orchestra; oration, "The Blue and the Gray," Edna Varner; music, orchestra; class poem, Elsie Grenning; valedictory address, Frank Borisik; music, orchestra; principal address, Prof. M. John Felix, aged four, son of John and Anna Findish Felix, of 144 Barron avenue, Eighteenth Ward, died at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon at the parental home. He is survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters, all at home: Mary, Anna, Helen, Joseph, Rose and Dorothy Felix. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o’clock tomorrow morning in St. Mary’s Greek Catholic Church, in charge of the Rev. Nicholas Szabados, pastor. Interment will be in the church cemetery in Lower Yoder Township. GEORGE BARRINGER. George Barringer of 374 Ihmsen avenue, Twelfth Ward, aged 70, a retired employee of the Cambria Steel Company, died at 7:30 o’clock yesterday morning at the home of his son, David W. Barringer. He was a son of the late David and Pauline Manges Barringer and was born in this city. Mr. Barringer was employed as a teamster for the Cambria Steel Company for many years. His wife died many years ago. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon with burial in Headrick’s Cemetery. GOTTLIEB STACH. GALLITZIN, May 26. – Gottlieb Stach, aged 65 years, died at 1 o’clock this morning at his home. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Charlotte Stach, and several children. Funerals services will be held Wednesday and the remains will be shipped Thursday morning to Pittsburg for burial. Undertaker H. F. Conrad has prepared the body for interment. PETER LESCO. WINDBER, May 26. – Peter Lesco, aged 46 years, of Mine No. 35, died of pneumonia at 10:15 o’clock last night at the Windber Hospital. He was admitted to the institution on Saturday. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Lesco, and six children. Funeral services will beheld at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon in the Hungarian Reformed Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Undertaker G. C. Meek has prepared the remains for interment.   Saturday, 12 Jul 1924 Submitted by Lynne Canterbury ASSAULT CASE AS ACCIDENT RESULT New Florence Man Gives Bail For Hearing Before Local Alderman Joseph W. Crouch, of New Florence, was arrested yesterday by Detective John Yoder, on a warrant from the office of Alderman Edward E. Levergood, charged with aggravated assault and battery, growing out of an automobile accident in Oakhurst on July 4. John Stutzman, of 368 Edith avenue, is the prosecutor in the case. It is charged that Crouch was driving an automobile that crashed into a car driven by Benjamin Stutzman, injuring two occupants. Crouch gave bail before Justice of the Peace J. J. Ulerich, of New Florence, for his appearance at a hearing here on next Wednesday, the bail being set at $1,000.   Monday Evening, 24 Nov 1924 page 13, column 5 Contributed by Gordon Grening PETER ODENTHAL. Peter Odenthal, aged 63 years, of Portage Township, died at 6:15 o’clock Saturday evening at the Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since November 15. Death was due to gangrene. The remains were taken to Portage yesterday by Undertake John Tickerhoof, of Portage, and after being prepared for burial were removed to the Odenthal home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 o’clock tomorrow morning in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Portage, a solemn high mass of requiem to be celebrated by the Rev. Father G. R. Welch. Interment will be St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church Cemetery at Wilmore. The deceased is survived by the following children: William and Albert Odenthal. McKeesport; Mrs. Jacob Hershberger, Mrs. Dora Stager and Mrs. Bertha Werick, all of Portage; also these stepchildren: Harry and John Wiggins and Mrs. John Barron, all of McKeesport, and Mrs. Harry Dentrick, of Pittsburg. Forty-six grandchildren also survive.
