JOHNSTOWN DAILY TRIBUNE JOHNSTOWN, PA 1945   2 Jan 1945 Submitted by Doug Hull LOCAL SOLDIER BURNED SLIGHTLY IN BELGIUM Staff Sgt. Thomas Emrys Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Jenkins of 914 Second Ave., Westmont, was slightly burned in the face when a robot bomb exploded near him in Belgium, he disclosed in a letter to relatives. The soldier, who is attached to a railway transportation battalion, said that the burns did not put him out of service. He joined the Army on Aug. 9, 1943, and went overseas last Semptember. Sgt. Jenkins formerly was employed as a draftsman at the Johnstown Lorain Works.   Saturday Evening, 17 Feb 1945 p.13 Contributed by Kelly Kendig. LILLY SERVICEMAN IS WOUNDED AGAIN LILLY--Mr. and Mrs. Steve Shedlock of Lilly R. D., have received word that their son, (Col.*) John Shedlock, was wounded for the second time Jan. 30 in Luxembourg and is recuperating in a hospital in England. The soldier was injured previously on Sept. 16 in France. He entered the Army Nov. 24, 1942, and went to the European area almost a year ago. Three brothers--Steve, Francis and Emil, are in the armed forces. PAUL J. MARSHALL WOUNDED IN FRANCE. Pvt. Paul J. Marshall was wounded in action Jan. 18 in France, the war department has informed his wife, Mrs. Alice Marshall of 317 Strauss Ave. He is the father of three children-Brenda, Terry and Pamela. Pvt. Marshall resided at Los Angeles, Cal., before he entered the Army last July 6. He went overseas in December..... Coulter, Braddock, to George M. Sharretts, son of Mrs. Leah Sharretts-Blough, Riverside, took place Saturday evening at the Franklin St. Methodist Church, Rev. Ernest Weals, pastor, officiated. Attendants were Miss Marie Sharretts, sister of the bridegroom, and Richard G. Thomas, both of Riverside. The bride was formerly employed by the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company, East Pittsburgh. After a short wedding trip the couple will reside in Riverside, where the bridegroom is employed by J. B. At Memorial Hospital Mr. and Mrs. George Umbower, 616 Franklin St., son, Dec. 5.   Monday, 17 Dec 1945 page 14, column 1 Contributed by Gordon Grening Mrs. Elizabeth Kreutzberger PORTAGE–Mrs. Elizabeth (Corle) Rojohn-Kreutzberger, 64, a former resident of Portage for more than 50 years, died Saturday night at her home in Claysburg. She was twice married, her first husband, August Rojohn, having died in 1913 [sic]. Surviving are her second husband, Jacob Kreutzberger; two children, Mrs. Anna Reuse of Portage and Albert Rojohn of South Fork, and nine step-children: Dorothy Kreutzberger and Mrs. David Fowler, Altoona; Mrs. James Barron, Dayton, O.; Frank Kreutzberger, at home; Mrs. Edward Bernosky and Mrs. John Drobnak, Detroit; Staff Sgt. Harold Kreutzberger, on Okinawa; Mrs. David Burke, Johnstown, and Lt. Noretta Kreutzberger, with the Army Nurse Corps in Korea. The deceased also leaves a sister, Mrs. Vern Long, Curwensville, and four grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Beck Funeral Home here. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Evangelical Church. Rev. C. T. Miller will officiate. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery. [NOTE: The obit for Elizabeth Kreutzberger published in The Altoona Mirror said that August Rojohn died in 1932, which is probably correct since August and Elizabeth appear on the 1930 census for Portage.]
