William & Anna (Berkebile) Wysel and granddaughter Esther Schofield. I don't have a date but it was before 1923 because William died then. William was born in Mineral Point to Moses & Elizabeth (Funk) Wisel. According to the book "History of Cambria County" he was a clerk until 1896 when in 1901 he engaged in the Mercantile business, intrusting the management of the store to his son. For 16 years he served as clerk of the South Fork borough council and for the same length was school director. For 3 years he held the office of treasurer of the school fund and was assessor of the first ward. Sometime after this he & his wife moved from South Fork to Cleveland, OH where they passed away. The store mentioned I believe later was known as Schofields because his daughter, Esther, the one in the photo married Alfred Schofield. Photo submitted by Sara Deffenbaugh |
