was born on a farm in Sullivan County, Pa., in 1857. To Mr. and Mrs. Hogan were born 10 children, as follows: Dennis, born in 1882, died in 1911; Catherine, lives at home; John P., a mining engineer, lives at Indiana, Pa.; Thomas S., lives at home, is a World war veteran, having served in the navy; Daniel, lives in Cleveland, Ohio; Fred J., the subject of this sketch; Edward M., twin brother of Fred J., lives at Indiana, Pa., is a veteran of the World war, having served with the Eightieth Division; Mary, Julia, and Richard, at home. Harry Grush is well known in Cambria County as the capable postmaster of Geistown, where he is also engaged in the general mercantile business. He was born in Paint Township, Somerset County, Feb. 19, 1888, and is the son of Lawrence and Barbara (Miller) Grush. Lawrence Grush, deceased, was a native of Cambria County. He was a farmer and also engaged extensively in the lumber business. The Grush homestead in Paint Township, Somerset County, has been in the family for more than a generation. Mr. Grush died in 1921, and his widow lives on the old homestead. There are 12 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Grush, as follows: Grace, married Aaron Seese; Lizzie, married George Yonker, deceased, and she resides at Windber; Anna, married Daniel Yonker, lives at Walnut Grove, Pa.; Pearl, married Henry Rose, lives at Windber; Margaret, lives at Windber; Lemon; William; Harry, the subject of this sketch; Dora, married Clyde Penner, lives at Windber; Cloyd, Jane, and Elsie, all live at Windber. Harry Grush spent his boyhood on his father's farm and was educated in the schools of Paint Township.
