Hazel, married William Hill, lives at Clarksburg, W. Va.; and Lucille, attends Fairmount Normal School, Pa.
    Thomas J. Madill received his education in the public schools of Cambria and Jefferson Counties. He began his business career in the employ of the Vinton Colliery Company at Vintondale, Pa. In 1912 he removed to Saxman, where he was associated with the Greenwich Supply Company as assistant manager. In 1919 he became manager of the Portage Mercantile Company, and the following year went with the Springfield Supply Company at Nanty Glo. In 1922 he was made superintendent of the Ebensburg Sand, Clay and Coal Company, and the following year he became connected with the S. Ewart Company, wholesale grocers of Pittsburgh. In July, 1923, he established the local branch of the Lauderbach-Griest Company, wholesale grocers, of which he has served as manager.
    In 1914 Mr. Madill was married to Miss Lena Blose, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blose, of Indiana County, Pa. The former resides at Glen Campbell, Pa., and the latter is deceased. To Mr. and Mrs. Madill have been born three children: Thomas J., Jr., born in 1915; Louise, born in 1918; and Jean, born in 1922.
    Mr. Madill is a Republican and served as postmaster at Saxman while a resident of that place. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, a thirty-second degree Mason, and member of the Williamsport Consistory, Jaffa Temple, and Shrine, Altoona. He is active in the Chamber of Commerce and all civic affairs.




    Fred J. Hogan, mining engineer, ranks among the leading and well known citizens of Spangler. He was born at Gleason, in Tioga County, Pa., Nov. 8, 1892, and is a son of John J. and Julia (Lane) Hogan.
    John J. Hogan is a native of Ireland. He was born in August, 1850, and when 16 years of age emigrated to this country and settled at Elmira, N.Y. Later he went to Saint Catherine's, Canada, where he was employed on the old Wellington Canal. He then came to Tioga County and was employed in the mines until 1908, when he established his present business at Spangler. He is a general merchant. While connected with the mines Mr. Hogan was affiliated with the Knights of Labor as district president and the United Mine Workers of America. He is a Democrat and has served as president of the City Council. Julia (Lane) Hogan
