1909, when he removed to Nanty Glo. He was associated in business with A. C. Lansberry, and they conducted the Lansberry-Dietrich Hardware Company until February, 1910, when Mr. Dietrich took over the entire business, which has since been known as the A. A. Dietrich Hardware Company. Mr. Dietrich carries a complete line of hardware, stoves, paints, etc., and has a well established business. He is second vice president and a director of the Miners and Merchants Bank of Nanty Glo, a director of the Peoples Building and Loan Association, and president of the Business Men's Association of Nanty Glo.
    On Oct. 29, 1907, Mr. Dietrich was united in marriage with Miss Gertrude Bauman, the daughter of F. X. and Mary (Lilly) Bauman, natives of Cambria County, and residents of Carrolltown. Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich have a son, Cyril, born at Patton, Sept. 29, 1908. He is a student at St. Vincent's College.
    Mr. Dietrich is a Republican, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, Ebensburg, and the Ebensburg Golf Club.




    Thomas J. Madill, of Spangler, is esteemed throughout the community as a prominent and successful business men. He was born at Anita, Jefferson County, Pa., Aug. 28, 1891, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Cowan) Madill.
    Joseph Madill, deceased, was a native of Scotland, and the son of Samuel Madill, who emigrated to this country many years ago and settled in Tioga County, Pa. His son, Joseph, began life as a miner and was promoted through the various positions until he became superintendent of the Bingamon Creek Coal Company, of Worthington, W. Va. He was killed in a mine disaster, March 29, 1924, and is buried at Clarksburg, W. Va. He was a Republican and a member of the Presbyterian Church. His widow, a native of Scotland, resides at Shinnston, W. Va. To Mr. and Mrs. Madill nine children were born, as follows: William J., lives at Clarksburg, W. Va.; Thomas J., the subject of this sketch; Joseph, lives at Shinnston, W. Va., is a World war veteran, having served in France as a member of the Ordnance Department; Malcolm, deceased; Robert Boyd, attends Morgantown University, W. Va.; Anna, married C. P. Williams, lives at Johnstown; Jean, married C. G. Shaffer, lives at Slickville, Pa.;
