    Mr. Dumm is a Democrat and has served as auditor of Spangler. He and his family hold membership in the Holy Cross Catholic Church and he is active in the Chamber of Commerce.




    J. A. Stutzman is among the representative business men of Johnstown, where he is treasurer and general manager of the Conemaugh Lumber Company. He was born in Cambria County, and is the son of Daniel and Mary Ann (Cobaugh) Stutzman.
    Daniel Stutzman, a native of Cambria County, was a prosperous farmer and stockman. He lived in a log cabin for a number of years, being among the early settlers of this section. His wife was also a native of Cambria County. To Mr. and Mrs. Stutzman, deceased, the following children were born: Sue, married George Byers; Kate, deceased, was the wife of Gordon Grove; Sarah, deceased, was the wife of G. B. Baumgardner; J. A. the subject of this sketch; F. B., associated in business with J. A.; Ellen, deceased, was the wife of G. B. Burkhart, who lives in California; and May, married R. J. Siffer, lives in Westmont, Pa.
    Daniel Stutzman was a Civil war veteran, being drafted into service three times. The first time he served for three months, the second time hired a substitute, and the third time served. He was a Republican, a member of the Brethren Church and Grand Army of the Republic.
    After completing his schooling, J. A. Stutzman entered the employ of the lumber firm of W. J. Rose & Son, and received $1.40 per day. After
