    James P. Dumm, authorized Ford agent at Spangler, is among Cambria County's most substantial and enterprising citizens. He was born in Barr Township, Cambria County, March 14, 1872, and is the son of John and Margaret (Mulvehill) Dumm.
    John Dumm, deceased, was a native of Carroll Township, Cambria County, Pa. When a young man he learned the carpenter's trade and spent several years in Johnstown. He then removed to Spangler and erected the first flour and feed mill at that place. He also owned the first lumber yard in Spangler and became one of the leading lumbermen of Cambria County. He was a Democrat, and served as a member of the City Council and is school director. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. and Mrs. Dumm are buried at Nicktown. They were the parents of the following children: James P., the subject of this sketch; Thomas, a farmer, lives at Nicktown; Charles, deceased; E. F., lives at Spangler; Ellen, married Val Wielan, a farmer, lives at Nicktown; Daniel, deceased; William, lives at Spangler; Coletta, deceased; Walter, lives in Oregon; John and Anthony, both deceased.
    James P. Dumm received his education in the schools of Barr Township, and after learning the carpenter's trade was employed in his father's planing mill. He was later connected with the Bethlehem Steel Company and employed in the erection of the Grautier Steel Mills. In 1912 he engaged in the garage business at Spangler, in partnership with his brother William. They were local dealers for the Ford and Reo automobiles. In 1917 Mr. Dumm took over the Ford agency. He has an up-to-date salesroom and a modern well equipped garage, with storage space for 35 cars. He carries a complete line of automobile accessories and does high-grade repair work. Mr. Dumm is a director of the Keystone Bank of Spangler.
    In 1900 Mr. Dumm was united in marriage with Miss Philomena Lieb, the daughter of Joseph and Philomena (Deuman) Lieb, natives of Barr Township. Mr. Lieb is a retired farmer. His wife is deceased. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dumm, as follows: Olean, in religion Sister Christine, Sisters of Mercy, Mount Aloysius Academy, Cresson, Pa.; Raymond, a student at Pierce School, Philadelphia; James J., born March 2, 1904, a graduate of St. Patrick's Business College, engaged in business with his father, and manager of the Keystone Sales Company; Caroline, a graduate of St. Benedict's Academy, lives at home; John, deceased;
