two years he went to Conemaugh and engaged in the contracting business with W. E. Oakes for six years, the firm being known as Oakes & Stutzman. In 1910 Mr. Stutzman organized the Conemaugh Lumber Company in partnership with Messrs. Oakes, A. E. Geisel, and I. F. Link. He has served as manager and treasurer since the organization of the company.
    The Conemaugh Lumber Company is one of the best known lumber concerns in Cambria County. They are dealers in all kinds of mill work and builders' supplies, and have a large yard in Johnstown, also a yard at Conemaugh.
    On Dec. 31, 1892, Mr. Stutzman was married to Miss Minnie Lydic, of Indiana County, Pa., and they have five children: G. F., president of the Conemaugh Lumber Company; Mary Ethel, married Phillip Boyer, who is identified with the Conemaugh Lumber Company; William Jay, died in October, 1924; Millie May, a teacher in the schools of Johnstown, lives at home; and Eva Rosalie, was valedictorian of the 1925 class of Johnstown High School, lives at home.
    Mr. Stutzman is a Republican and a member of the Baptist Church. He has a wide acquaintance in Cambria County.




    P. A. Lantzy, well known secretary of the Spangler School Board, represents one of the very earliest families of Cambria County. He was born in Barr Township, July 6, 1883, and is a son of John D. and Mary (Miller) Lantzy.
    John D. Lantzy was born in Carroll Township, Cambria County, June 24, 1855, the son of Joseph and Mary Ann (Bagley) Lantzy. Joseph Lantzy was born in Schuylkill County, Pa., Jan. 13, 1823, the son of Joseph and Ersilla (Bitters) Lantzy. Joseph Lantzy was born in Switzerland in 1780, and in 1817 emigrated to the United States, settling in Luzerne County, Pa. In 1826 he moved to Cambria County and settled near the present site of Spangler. He was a member of the Catholic Church. His son, Joseph, was about four years old when his parents moved to Cambria County. The old Lantzy homestead remained in the family until 1919, when it was sold to the Watkins Coal Company. Joseph Lantzy was married Nov. 30, 1840, to Mary Ann Bagley, and their children were: William A., Susan, John D., father of the subject of this sketch; Simon P., Michael, Anna, Agnes J., and Francis C.
