714 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

    John D. Lantzy attended the district schools of Carroll Township and engaged in farming on the home place until 1919, when the place was sold. He has since lived retired at Spangler. Mr. Lantzy was also interested in the lumber business during his active career and operated a large saw mill on his farm, specializing the making of mine props, ties, and cross bars. He is a Democrat and has served as constable of Barr Township for 12 years. He is a member of the Catholic Church. To Mr. and Mrs. Lantzy 13 children were born, as follows: Mary Bertha, at home; P. A., the subject of this sketch; Annie, married Peter Lieb, lives at Nicktown, and they had eight children, Edna, Helen, Ruth, John, Grace, Alma, Herman, and Mary; S. L., retired banker, lives at Spangler, married Della McAnulty, and they have four children; Neil, Robert, David Lloyd, deceased, and Joseph; A. C., lives at home, is a veteran of the World war, having served in France with the Three Hundred Eighteenth Infantry and was wounded at the battle of Saint Mihiel; Norbert F., married Alma Kirkpatrick, lives at Heilwood, Pa., and they have two children, Edna Mae and Camilla; Coletto O., and Viola P., at home; Lucinda, Joseph, Dennis, and two infant children, all of whom are deceased.
    P. A. Lantzy spent his boyhood in Barr Township and was educated in the public schools. He then entered the employ of I. A. Boucher & Company, Spangler, in a clerical capacity, and in 1902 became associated with the Walnut Coal Company. From 1906 until 1918 he was employed by the C. R. Jones Company, after which he was connected with the Peerless Biscuit Company of Pittsburgh until 1924, when he became affiliated with W. E. Johnson & Company of Johnstown. He is still connected with this concern as a salesman.
    In November, 1911, Mr. Lantzy was elected as a member of the school board and since that time has served as secretary.
    On June 23, 1908, Mr. Lantzy was united in marriage with Miss Bridget Murrin, the daughter of Edward and Mary (O'Donnell) Murrin. Mr. Murrin was born at Beaver Meadows, Pa., and died in June, 1912. His widow, a native of Ireland, resides at Freeland, Pa. They had six children: Mary, the widow of John L. McNelis, lives at Spangler; Catherine, married Hugh McDwyer, lives at Freeland, Pa.; Isabel, married Frank H. McHugh, who was city engineer of Philadelphia; Stephen, deceased; Clara, married Michael McMonigal, lives at Hazelton, Pa.; and Mrs. Lantzy. To P. A. and Bridget (Murrin) Lantzy four children were born: Pius A., Jr.,
