Mr. Sharpless lives at Ebensburg, where he is identified with the Weaver Coal Company. His wife died in 1921.
    Mr. Davies is a Republican, a member of the Congregational Church, and is affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, Consistory of Williamsport, and Shrine of Altoona. He also belongs to the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Davies has a wide acquaintance throughout Cambria County and is well liked.




    J. Ward Hile, widely known throughout Cambria County as the efficient cashier of the St. Michael National Bank, at St. Michael, is a native of Pennsylvania. He was born at Lunber City, in Clearfield County, Nov. 22, 1874, and is the son of William Greer and Martha Catherine (Haney) Hile.
    William Greer Hile, deceased, spent his entire life in Pennsylvania. He was born at Lumber City and spent the latter years of his life at Ebensburg, where he conducted a hotel. Mr. Hile died in 1908. His widow lives at Scalp Level.
    J. Ward Hile attended the public schools of Lumber City and was graduated from Lock Haven Normal School and Lafayette College, being a member of the class of 1901. He taught in the schools of Woodland, Clearfield County, for two years, after which he entered the employ of the Cambria Steel Company, Johnstown. He remained there for four years and then accepted the position as assistant cashier of the First National Bank at Spangler. He later was assistant cashier of the First National Bank at Barnesboro. Mr. Hile returned to the Cambria Steel Company, Johnstown, where he was connected with the credit department for three years. In 1913 he was appointed cashier of the Merchants & Miners Bank at Scalp Level, and served in that capacity for 11 years, after which he helped organize the St. Michael National Bank. He was chartered Oct. 23, 1924, with a capital stock of $25,000 and a surplus of $5,000. The officers are: J. E. Fawcett, president; R. W. Maneval, vice president; and J. Ward Hile, cashier. The directors are: J. E. Fawcett, R. W. Maneval, B. L. Simpson, P. M. McCon, and E. P. Dickinson.
    On Nov. 3, 1903, Mr. Hile was united in marriage with Miss Mary Elizabeth Carrel, the daughter of Thomas A. and Ellen (Hawthorne) Carrel, natives of Johnstown and both now deceased. To Mr. and Mrs.
