of the congregational church and the parents of the following children: Margaretta, deceased; Frederick, killed during the battle of Gettysburg; Hosea, Sarah, John H., Eliza, David, Mary J., Alexander and Ruth, all deceased; Mrs. Daniel J. Davis; Harry, deceased; Alice, married Evan Griffith who lives retired in Ebensburg; and Harvey, died at the family homestead, Oct. 20, 1925, leaving a widow and three sons.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Welch Presbyterian Church and has always taken an active interest in all church and civic affairs. After that church was discontinued Mr. and Mrs. Davis joined the Congregational Church.
William Lester Larimer, county treasurer, is a widely known and highly esteemed citizen of Cambria County, and one of Patton's representative business men, where he is vice president and cashier of The Grange National Bank. He was born in Cambria Township, Cambria County, Sept. 3, 1868, and is the son of William and Mary (Jane) Larimer.
William Larimer, deceased, was a veteran of the Civil war. He was born in Allegheny County, Pa., Jan. 1, 1836. During the Civil war he enlisted in Company H, One Hundred Ninetieth Second Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Feb. 23, 1865, and was mustered out June 9, 1865. He was stationed at Camp Chase, Ohio, and later transferred to Harper's Ferry and other points and was advanced to the rank of corporal. Two years before his death his home at Bethel, Pa., was destroyed by fire. Mr. Larimer was a member of the Baptist Church. He died June 11, 1875, and is buried at Bethel, in Black Lick Township, Cambria County. During his business career he was extensively engaged in farming and lumbering. To Mr. and Mrs. William Larimer the following children were born: Evelyn Cordelia, born Aug. 5, 1854, married in January, 1870, to James Skees, of Pittsburgh, and she resides at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Emma Jane, born April 22, 1856, married April 4, 1878, to Alex J. Evans; John L., born April 5, 1858, married in December, 1882, to Miss Mary Wallace, deceased; Annie Viola, born Feb. 12, 1860, died Sept. 16, 1865; Ida Mary, born Feb. 5, 1862, died Sept. 16, 1865; infant daughter, born April 5, 1865, died Oct. 2, 1865; Margaret Bell, born Aug. 10, 1866, married Nov. 24, 1891, to J. J. Davis; William Lester, the subject of this sketch; Clement Sharp, born Feb. 9, 1870, died April 28, 1886; and Viola Gertrude, born June 29, 1873, married Jan. 5, 1897, to James Fredricks, died Oct. 6, 1900.
