William Lester Larimer was reared in Cambria Township and received his education in the Ebensburg public school and Ebensburg Normal School. He began life as a teacher, which he followed for nine terms in Chest and Blacklick townships, and four years in Ebensburg. Mr. Larimer worked at various occupations, such as fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad, real estate dealer, transcriber in the county recorder's office, and clerk in the prothonotary's office. He later became assistant cashier of the American national Bank and secretary of the Ebensburg building and Loan Association. He was selected by the bondsmen to fix up affairs in the county treasurer's office and later elected treasurer of Cambria County. He has also served as chief clerk in the county commissioner's office. Mr. Larimer is now serving his second term as county treasurer.
On Jan. 20, 1892, Mr. Larimer was united in marriage with Miss Isora Davis, who was born in Jackson township, Cambria County, June 2, 1869, the daughter of Capt. Thomas and Susan Jane (Burkhart) Davis, natives of Jackson township. Mr. Davis died July 6, 1907, and his wife died Jan.18, 1923. Mrs. Larimer has two brothers, Schuyler and Stanton Davis. Eleven children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Larimer, as follows: (1) Thomas William, born July 8, 1898, lives in Johnstown, where he is cashier and bookkeeper of the Southern Cambria Street Railway Company. He served during the World war as inspector of the Fuel Administration and was discharged March 31, 1919, at Perth Amboy, N. J. He married Aug. 18, 1917, to Miss Lillian Apel. (2) Clement Wendel, born May 25, 1895, lives at Ebensburg, where he is deputy treasurer of Cambria County. He served during the World war with Pittsburgh Hospital Unit L. He enlisted Sept. 23, 1917, and was discharged June 12, 1919. (3) John Lester, born Aug. 18, 1897, lives at Memphis, Tenn., where he is assistant district manager of the National Oil Refining Company. He enlisted during the World war, July 11, 1918, and served with the Fortieth Battery, Fourth Anti-Aircraft Battalion, C. A. C., and was discharged Jan. 21, 1919. (4) Paul Davis, born May 30, 1899, lives at Patton, where he is studying law at Dickinson School of Law. He enlisted in the navy during the World war, June 24, 1918, and was discharged Sept. 30, 1921. (5) Myron Schuyler, born May 22, 1901, lives at Patton, where he is assistant cashier of the Grange National Bank, married Nov. 7, 1925, to Miss Mary Jane Buck. (6) Claude Frederick, born Jan. 3, 1903, a student; (7) Thelma Gertrude, born Jan. 28, 1905, lives at Patton, where she is a stenographer in the county treasurer's office; (8) Homer James, born
