Buck. To Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Buck the following children were born: Rose, born Feb. 3, 1871, lives at home; Harriet Elizabeth, born May 6, 1872; Anna Mary, born Oct. 20, 1873, deceased; Cyrillas Jerome, born Feb. 15, 1876; Mark A., born Oct. 22, 1876; Lucinda May, born Jan. 22, 1878; Joseph S., born Sept. 14, 1879; Stephen Giles, born Sept. 1, 1881; Charles B., born Nov. 4, 1883; John Thomas, born Oct. 2, 1885, deceased; Michael B., the subject of this sketch; B. L., born Sept. 29, 1889; Justin A., born May 10, 1892; Gregory Elmer, born May 9, 1894; and Adrian A., born Oct. 8, 1896. Mrs. Martha (Parrish) Buck died Sept. 24, 1922.
    Michael B. Buck received his education in the schools of Carrolltown and at an early age engaged in the lumber business with his father. He conducts one of the most extensive businesses of its kind in the county and also does general contracting and building. He has specialized in the construction of schools and during the past two years has built seven school buildings.
    In June, 1912, Mr. Buck was united in marriage with Miss Mary Yeaglin, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Yeaglin, early settlers of Cambria County. Mr. and Mrs. Buck had no children. They are well known in the community where they have spent so many years.




    Joseph Edward Stevens, mortician of Carrolltown, is a progressive and enterprising business man of Cambria County. He was born at Altoona, Pa., in September, 1876, and is the son of Joseph and Matilda (Flaugh) Stevens.
    Joseph Stevens, deceased, was a native of Blair County, Pa. He engaged in the furniture and undertaking business at Altoona, Pa., and died March 1, 1910. His widow died May 2, 1919. Mr. Stevens is now conducted by his son, N. A. Stevens. To Mr. and Mrs. Stevens the following children were born: Nicholas, lives at Altoona; Agnes, the wife of Lewis A. Luther, lives at Altoona; Gertrude, lives at home; Joseph Edward, the subject of this sketch; Theresa, lives at home; Charles; Frank, a druggist, lives at Latrobe, Pa.; Vincent, associated in business with his brother, N. A.; Clara, married S. Lambour, lives in Altoona; and Gerald, a druggist, lives at Altoona.
    Joseph Edward Stevens received his early education in the parochial schools of Altoona and later attended the Massachusetts College of Anatomy at Boston, Mass., and Eckels College of Surgery. He engaged
