Charles T., engaged in business with his father; Margaret, a student nurse at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown; Mary, a student at Mount Aloysius College; and Richard, at home. Eugene G. Price, popular garage owner of Nanty Glo, is a native of Pennsylvania. He was born at Bedford, Sept. 1, 1898, and is the son of George W. and Mamie (Spidell) Price. George W. price, who lives at Johnstown, is a native of Bedford, Pa., as is his wife. He is the son of George W. and Amanda Price, well known pioneers of Bedford County. Mr. Price was one of Bedford's baseball players and met with success in his various undertakings. His son, George W., began life as a brickmason. In 1916 he removed to Johnstown, where he was employed in county work. He is now foreman of the Keefer Contracting Company in that city. Mr. Price is a Democrat and a member of the Presbyterian Church. His wife is the daughter of Matthew and Amanda (Deckerhove) Spidell, natives of Bedford County. Mr. Spidell was a Civil war veteran and died June 14, 1922. His widow resides at Erie, pa. To George W. and Mamie (Spidell) Price four children were born: E. G., the subject of this sketch; Helen, married Charles Rippin, lives at Johnstown; Ailien, at home; and one child died in infancy. E. G. Price attended the public schools of Bedford and after his graduation from high school in 1916 became associated with A. B. Creighton, engineer, of Johnstown. In 1918 he went to Pittsburgh, where he became an automobile mechanic in the employ of the City Motor company. He was later connected with the repair shop of the Johnstown Automobile company, and in May, 1923, purchased his present business from A. J. Cornely, postmaster of Nanty Glo. He was associated in business with W. C. Wilkinson until December, 1924, when he purchased Mr. Wilkinson's interest in the business. Mr. price dies general repair work and carries a complete line of automobile accessories. His garage, which is located on Lloyd Street, has storage capacity for 20 cars. Mr. Price is a Democrat, a member of the Presbyterian Church, and is prominent in the Business Men's Association of Nanty Glo. |
