For many years the birthday anniversaries of Mr. Sharbaugh, Dr. Isadore Strittmatter, of Philadelphia, and Attorney Edward Flick, of Altoona, Pa., have been celebrated together, their birthdays having occurred on the same date. They were born on three adjoining farms in Carroll Township. Aug. 16, 1860, and have been lifelong friends. Messrs. Flick and Sharbaugh are cousins. Clair F. Krug, Doctor of Chiropractic at Spangler, is well and favorably known throughout Cambria County. He was born at Hastings, April 11, 1890, and is the son of Jacob and Minerva (Mechling) Krug. Jacob Krug was born in Carroll Township, Nov. 1, 1861, the son of Philip and Catherine (Lauffer) Krug, natives of Germany. Philip Krug was born Sept. 28, 1822, and died in 1916. His wife was born Dec. 12, 1829, and died in 1906. They were early settlers of Pennsylvania and located on land near Martin's Cove in Blair County. His wife, Minerva (Mechling) Krug, was born in Susquehanna Township, July 11, 1872, the daughter of R. R. and Jane (Ascroft) Mechling. Mr. Mechling died April 14, 1896, and his widow died in 1914. They are both buried in Clearfield County, Pa. The ancestry of the Mechling family dates back to 1728 when members of this family emigrated to the United States from Germany and settled at Germantown, Pa. They were interested in the lumbering and shipping business. Minerva (Michling) Krug died in 1911 and is buried at Hastings.
