He also served as principal of schools at Cherry Tree. He taught for ten years and holds county permanent certificate in the Pennsylvania Schools. On account of ill health, Doctor Krug gave up teaching and entered the Palmer School of Chiropractic at Davenport, Iowa, from which he was graduated in 1923. He has since engaged in practice at Spangler.
    In 1917 Doctor Krug was married to Miss Esther Dawson, the daughter of Robert and Elisabeth (Moore) Dawson, natives of Barnesboro, and now residents of Akron, Ohio. Doctor and Mrs. Krug have two sons, Orvis, born Dec. 11, 1920, and Vernon, born March 8, 1926.
    Doctor Krug is a member of the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Chamber of Commerce, Greenwood Hunting Club, and Cambria County Sportsmen.




    P. J. Hackett, who is widely known throughout Cambria County as the efficient cashier of the Farmers Deposit Bank of Cresson, is a native of Johnstown. He was born April 20, 1889, and is the son of Patrick and Anna (Hughes) Hackett.
    Patrick Hackett was born in Ireland and when a boy of 16 years emigrated to America and settled in Johnstown, where he was employed by the Cambria Iron Company continuously until 1906. During the latter years of this period he was identified with the open hearth department of the plant. Mr. Hackett then went to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, where he entered the employ of the Algoma Steel Company. He retired in 1918 and has since lived in Pittsburgh. His wife, Ann (Hughes) Hackett, was born in Johnstown in 1864 and died in 1918. She is buried in St. John's Cemetery, Johnstown. Mrs. Hackett was the daughter of Peter and Alice Hughes, pioneers of Johnstown. Mr. Hughes is deceased and his widow resides in Johnstown. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hackett, of whom P.J. the subject of this sketch, is the oldest.
    P.J. Hackett grew up in Johnstown and attended St. John's parochial school. When a young man he entered the employ of the Lorain Steel Company, Johnstown, but in 1914 became identified with the First National Bank of Johnstown as a bookkeeper. He continued in this capacity until 1922, when he accepted his present responsible position as cashier of the Farmers Deposit Bank of Cresson.
    On Aug. 29, 1916, Mr. Hackett was married to Miss Nora A. Moran, of Johnstown, the daughter of Michael and Elisabeth Moran. Mr. Moran
