vania State University and Bethlehem College, a World War veteran, having served in France with the 305th Engineers, now associated in business with his father; Naomi, twin sister of Oscar, attended Seton Hill College, lives at home; and Mary, a student.
    Mr. Binder is a Democrat and has served as school director and as a member of the city council. He and his family hold membership in the Catholic Church, and are prominent citizens of the community.




    Dr. T. Orlando Helfrick is a successful and well known physicians and surgeon of Spangler, where he has practiced his profession since 1893. He is also vice president of the First National Bank. Doctor Helfrick was born at Hastings, Aug. 17, 1872, and is the son of Thomas and Martha (Helfrick) Helfrick.
    Thomas Helfrick was a farmer and spent his entire life in Pennsylvania. He died in 1874 and is buried at South Fork. His wife is also deceased. T. Orlando, subject of this sketch, was their only child.
    After his graduation from the district schools of Elder Township, T. Orlando Helfrick attended Indiana Normal School and was graduated from the School of Medicine, Cincinnati University, in 1892. He engaged in practice at Nicktown the following year and in 1893 established his present practice at Spangler. He is identified with the Cambria County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Sate Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. He was one of the organizers of the Miners Hospital and has served as its president since 1908. He is a skilled physician and surgeon and has an extensive practice.
    In 1894 Doctor Helfrick was united in marriage with Miss Rose Bearer, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Hopple) Bearer, natives of Cambria County. Mr. Bearer is deceased and is buried at Carrolltown. His widow resides at Youngstown, Ohio. He was a Democrat and a member of the Catholic Church. To Mr. and Mrs. Bearer eight children were born, as follows: Dr. Albert, a physician, lives at New Kensington, Pa.; Milton, lives at Ambridge, Pa.; Oliver, lives in Carroll Township, Cambria County; Walter, lives in Pittsburgh; Margaret, died in 1925, was the wife of James Hoover; Teeney, married B.A. Zollaner, lives at Youngstown, Ohio; Della, deceased, was the wife of George F. Wildeman, and he resides at Barnesboro; and Mollie, married Thomas Fitzgerald, lives at Ambridge, Pa. Six children were born to Doctor and Mrs. Helfrick: Thelma, born in
