HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY 903

born Sept. 19, 1890, died Aug. 7, 1924, buried in Grand View Cemetery, Johnstown. He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, being past [sic] master of the Johnstown lodge; Pittsburgh Consistory, thirty-second degree, and Jaffa Temple, Altoona, and a member of Lodge No. 201, Knights of Pythias, Nanty Glo; (19) [sic] Lucilla, married U. Grant Berkebile, general manager of the Nanty Glo Auto Company; (11) Clarence, mention of whom is made below; and (12) Alice, lives at home.
    Clarence Lauer was born Oct. 20, 1896. He enlisted June 6, 1918, in the U. S. Medical Corps and was sent to Fort Oglethorpe, Camp Greenleaf, Ga., and later to Allentown, Pa. He sailed for England as a member of a medical replacement, unit, and was later sent to France, where he was connected with Camp Hospital No. 33. He was discharged at Camp Dix, N. J., March 20, 1919. Mr. Lauer married Miss Ethel Pearl Lape, daughter of Albert and Anna (Lohr) Lape. They have a son, Jerry Lauer. Mr. Lauer is associated in business with his brother, Frank J. Lauer. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, thirty-second degree, Pittsburgh Consistory and the American Legion.
    Frank J. Lauer attended the public schools of Clearfield County and worked in the mines until he was 21 years of age. He was then employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for five years and in 1915 purchased the Moss Creek Hotel at Marsteller, in Cambria County, which he managed for two years. He then removed to Landstreet, where he managed the business of the Hooversville Supply Company until 1921, when he became connected with the Boswell Motor Company at Boswell, Pa. On July 1, 1922, Mr. Lauer purchased the Boswell News Company, which he conducted until February, 1923, when he removed to Nanty Glo. He then purchased the Ford agency and has since been local dealer for the Ford automobile. He has a well established business on Second Street.
    In 1909 Mr. Lauer was married to Miss Cora B. Graham, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Weisser) Graham. Mr. Graham, a retired farmer, lives at Woodland, Pa. His wife is deceased.
    Frank J. Lauer is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Black Lick Lodge No. 1088; Knights of Pythias No. 27, Barnesboro; Johnstown Lodge No. 538, F. and A. M.; Cambria Council, R. and S. M. M.; Portage Royal Arch Chapter; Oriental Commandery, K. T.; Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory, thirty-second degree; Jaffa Temple and Jaffa Shrine Club, Altoona; and Y. M. C. A. He is a Republican and is a member of the American Automobile Association.
