Mr. Short was a Democrat and a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Mrs. Short is the oldest living settler of Lilly and has a wide acquaintance throughout Cambria County. Charles Leventry, of Geistown, ranks among the representative and successful business men of Cambria County. He was born at Tyre Hill, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, Pa., Aug. 12, 1865, the son of Henry and Mary Catherine (Wulbrandt) Leventry. Henry Leventry was born at Waldeck, Germany, Oct. 18, 1814. In 1846 he emigrated from Germany to the United States and settled in Pennsylvania, in Cambria County. Some time afterward he purchased a small farm in Somerset County, and worked it besides doing shoemaking in the township. After a number of years he left the farm and went to Tyre Hill, where he followed his trade, but in 1873 came to Johnstown. Six years afterward he bought the Henry Constable farm, above Moxham, and lived there until his death, Oct. 28, 1887. Henry Leventry is remembered as an honest, industrious German citizen of Cambria County. While he did not acquire large means, he lived comfortably, brought up his family in the teachings of the German Lutheran Church, and left to them the good example of his own life, and they have profited by his early teachings. He did not take an active part in public affairs and voted as he felt it his duty. Originally he was a Democrat, but later became a Republican. Mr. Leventry was married twice. The family name of his first wife was Unverzagt, and she bore him one child, who died in infancy. In 1850, after the death of his first wife, he married Mary catherine Wulbrandt, the daughter of Frederick Wulbrandt. She was born in Alsace Lorraine and came to this country with the late Lewis and Charles VonLunen, of Johnstown. She died Dec. 6, 1898. The following children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Leventry: William, born Jan. 7, 1851, died July 23, 1923; Henry Frederick, born July 16, 1853, lives in Johnstown; Herman, born March 9, 1856, and died in July 1926; Edward born May 12, 1858, drowned July 26, 1873; Louis, born May 4, 1861, lives in Johnstown; Louisa, born Sept. 14, 1863, married L.
