    David Nelson, whose mother dying in the Spangler Hospital, gave her baby, David, to our subject's wife, lives in the Price home, although but not adopted, and is in attendance at the public schools in Emeigh. David, an orphan, in an orphan's home; God's hand over all.




    William A. McGuire, an attorney of Johnstown, is recognized as one of the representative members of the bar of Cambria County. He was born at Loretta, PA, Dec 12, 1877, and is the son of George Luke and Matilda (Luther) McGuire.
    George Luke McGuire, who lives retired at Scranton, Pa., is a member of a prominent pioneer family of Cambria County. He was born at Loretta and during his active career engaged in general farming and stock raising. His wife died in October, 1903, and is buried at Loretta, Pa. To Mr. and Mrs. McGuire the following children were born: Henry F., lives at Cresson, Pa.; Edward A., lives at Sankertown, Pa.; William A., the subject of this sketch; Annie E., lives at home; Rose, married James A. Gauntner, lives at Cresson, Pa.; Zita, the widow of William McConnell, lives at Sankertown, Pa.; Charles H., lives at Sankertown, Pa.; Bessie, married Romanus Eckenrode, lives at Loretta, Pa.; Viola, married Sylvester Graff, lives in Johnstown; and Caroline, died in May, 1889.
    William A. McGuire attended the public schools of Cambria County and St. Francis College at Loretta. He was graduated in 1893 and studied law with the late Francis J. O'Connor and was associated in practice with him for a number of years. Mr. McGuire was admitted to the bar in December 1905, and for 12 years engaged in the practice of his profession at Ebensburg. He has been located in Johnstown since 1917 and has offices in the Woolf Building. Mr. McGuire owns large tracts of land in Cambria and Bedford counties. He has served as county solicitor, having succeeded Hon. John W. Kiphart, judge of the Supreme Court.
    On June 29, 1914, Mr. McGuire was united in marriage with Miss Kathryn Quigley of Westmoreland County, Pa., the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Tohill) Quigley, natives of Ireland. Mr. Quigley died in November, 1913, and his widow resides with the McGuire family. The had six children, as follows; Anna married Salvadore A. Mill, lives in Porto Rico; Alice, lives in Johnstown; Mary, married Edgar W. Clarke, lives at Evanston, Ill.; Charles, died in 1906; Mrs. McGuire; and Henry J.,
