Mr. Bland is a member of the Episcopal Church, Elks Lodge and Loyal Order of Moose. He is a Republican, and in 1926 was a candidate for representative to the Assembly from his district.




    Harry Newton Price, who has served as postmaster of Emeigh for more than 21 years, is a substantial and highly esteemed citizen of Cambria County. He was born at Dixonville, Pa., Aug. 1, 1861, and is the son of Richard and Jane (Price) Price. Our subject was left an orphan at about three years of age. He was raised in the home of Richard W. Smith, who was an uncle of Richard Price, who was a native of Indiana County, Pa. His brother, Isaac Price, was killed in service during the Civil War, while serving as a lieutenant with the 61st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Richard Price was a farmer and land owner and also engaged in carpenter work. He died in 1864 and is buried at Dixonville, Pa. His wife died three years earlier. to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Price one son was born, Harry Newton, the subject of this sketch.
    Harry Newton Price was reared and educated in Indiana County and began teaching school at the age of 21 years in Westover School, Susquehanna Township, Cambria County. He taught in various schools throughout Indiana and Cambria counties almost continually until June, 1925, when he retired. He has served as postmaster of Emeigh since 1905; and is still in the service. He is now a local minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church.
    On Dec. 31, 1891, Mr. Price was united in marriage with Miss Lydia Annetta Gooderham, the daughter of George W. and Mary (Peddicord) Gooderham. George W. Gooderham, deceased, was a Civil War veteran. His wife is deceased. to Mr. and Mrs. Price the following children were born: George Leo, lives at Akron, Ohio, married Miss Ruth Fleming; Mary J., lives in India, where she is doing missionary work; Hazel; Richard, lives in Akron, Ohio, is a veteran of the World War, married Miss Grace Huber; James Newton, lives at Emeigh, married Miss Esther Baker; Olaf, lives at Emeigh; Martha Beatrice, married Wayne Craver, lives at Emeigh; Ruth Lucille and Margaret Gail, students in Barnesboro High School, third and first years respectively.
    Mr. Price is a Prohibitionist. He and his family hold membership in the Methodist Episcopal Church and are highly esteemed members of the community in which they live.
