966 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

    On Nov. 14, 1907, Mr. Barnhart was united in marriage with Miss Gertrude Heller of Hazelton, Pa., a daughter of C. C. and Emma (Gertrude) Heller. Mr. Heller is deceased and his widow resides in Hazelton, Pa. To Mr. and Mrs. Barnhart one child was born, Gertrude, a student at the Cochran Junior High School, Johnstown. The family home is at 1522 Franklin Street.
    In politics Mr. Barnhart is identified with the Republican party. He is a member of the Methodist Church and belongs to the Woodmen of the World, Knights of Pythias, Bachelors' Club of Johnstown, the Sunnehanna Country Club, and the Phi Kappa Si fraternity of Dickinson College. Both Mr. and Mrs. Barnhart have a wife acquaintance in Cambria County and are representative of the best citizenship of the community.




    Dr. F. Sunseri. Among the prominent and successful young physicians and surgeons of Johnstown is Dr. F. Sunseri, a veteran of the World War. He was born in Italy, in April 1892, and is the son of O. and Mary J. (Noto) Sunseri.
    O. Sunseri emigrated to this country from Italy several years ago and engaged in the fruit and grocery business in New Orleans, La. He died in 1908. His wife died in Italy. They had four children: Ninfa, married C. Cancilla, an attorney, lives in Italy; F., a merchant, lives in New Orleans, La.; Dr. F., the subject of this sketch; and Angeline, attends college in Italy.
    Dr. F. Sunseri received his education in the schools of his native land and in 1916 received the degree of Doctor of Medicine from Rome University. In April of that year he enlisted in the Italian army and was commissioned a first lieutenant in the medical corps. During 1916-1917 he served in the trenches in Italy and in 1918-1919 was stationed in Africa with the Italian army. He was discharged in 1919. While en route to Africa the transport on which he was sailing was torpedoed and he was rescued, with his comrades, by an English battleship. After his discharge Doctor Sunseri was decorated by the Italian government for bravery.
    In 1920 Doctor Sunseri took post-graduate work in Rose University and the following year come to the United States and settled in New Orleans, La., where he studied English. He passed the examinations before the medical board of Philadelphia, and in 1922 engaged in the practice of his profession in Johnstown. He identified with the Cambria County
