    Mr. Arbogast is a Republican and has served three terms as a member of the council. He has always taken an active interest in the affairs of the community and it is largely through these efforts that Vintondale was made a borough. He holds membership in the Presbyterian Church, F. & A. M. No. 324, Mifflintown, Harrisburg Consistory 32nd degree, and Zembo Temple, Harrisburg. He is a member of the Sunnehanna Country Club, Johnstown.




    Henry Wacker, Jr., is a prominent business man of Johnstown, where he is identified with Wacker & Company, general contractors. He was born in this city, March 11, 1883, and is a son of Henry and Catherine (Scharman) Wacker.
    Henry Wacker, retired, is a native of Germany. Henry Wacker, Sr., was born Dec. 21, 1854, and came to America in 1881. He was married in Johnstown, in 1882, to Miss Catherine Scharman, who was born in Germany Jan. 24, 1857. They reside in Brownstown, a suburb of Johnstown. When a young man he came to this country and settled in Johnstown, where he was employed for many years by the Cambria Steel Company. His wife was also born in Germany. They have eight children, as follows: Henry, Jr., the subject of this sketch; Annie, the wife of Paul Eichler, Westmont, Pa.; Rose, married A. R. Freet, resides in Greensburg, Pa.; Frank, at home; Frieda, married C. H. Mattern, resides in Westmont, Pa.; Hilda, at home; Walter, at home; and Florence, wife of Herman Steeg, Johnstown.
    Henry Wacker, Jr., was reared in Johnstown and learned the carpenter trade while in the employ of Otto Scharman. Later he was employed by the contracting firm of William H. Smith, and in 1908 engaged in business for himself. In 1925 Mr. Wacker's brother, Walter Wacker, became a member of the firm. They are general contractors and builders and specialize in the construction of fine homes. They have also erected some of the leading club buildings in the city, including the Loyal Order of Moose, at Johnstown and Winber, Nenstiel Building, and the Beneficial Home Association Building.
    On Feb. 15, 1906, Mr. Wacker was married to Miss Ida Stegg, the daughter of Conrad and Emma (Scharman) Stegg, residents of Johnstown.
