HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY 1095

    Curt E. Miller ranks among the prominent citizens of Johnstown. He was born in this city, Dec. 27, 1883, and is the son of Adolph and Emma (Inscho) Miller.
    Adolph Miller was born in Johnstown and reared by Henry Fritz, his uncle. He was a merchant in early life, but in 1898 removed to Braddock, Pa., where he is employed by the Carnegie Steel Company as a roll turner. Before leaving Johnstown he was employed by the old Johnstown Steel Company. Mr. Miller is a Republican, a member of the Lutheran Church, and Knights of Pythias. His wife died June 1, 1925, and is buried in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown. To Mr. and Mrs. Miller the following children were born: Lillian, died in infancy; Curt E., the subject of this sketch; Frank A., deceased; and Harry, a farmer, lives in Westmoreland County, Pa.
    After completing his schooling at Braddock, Pa., Curt E. Miller entered the theatrical profession and for eight years traveled throughout the country as a member of Keith's Circuit. He then retired and became an accountant in the employ of the Westinghouse Electric Company, where he remained for eight years. He has since been identified with the Lorain Steel Company as an accountant. When the Goodfellowship Club was organized at the plant, Mr. Miller was appointed general secretary of the society. He has always been active in amateur theatricals in the city and devotes much of his spare time to that work.
    On Oct. 11, 1924, Mr. Miller was married to Miss Eva M. Strayer, of Johnstown. They had a son, William Strayer, who died in infancy.
    Mr. Miller is a Republican and holds membership in the Presbyterian Church.




    John Harris Stephens, a member of the firm of Stephens, Stephens & Glass, is a widely known and successful lawyer of Johnstown. He was born at Dilltown, Indiana County, Pa., Oct. 1, 1868, and is a son of William S. and Sarah Ann (Skiles) Stephens.
    John Harris Stephens obtained his early education in the public schools and attended Armaugh Mt. Pleasant Academy, and the National Normal University at Lebanon, Ohio. He was graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan and admitted to the bar of Cambria County in June, 1897. In November, 1905, he was admitted to the bar of Indiana County, Pa., and has since been admitted to practice
