William Schenkemeyer received his education in the public schools of Johnstown and at an early age became associated in business with his father. He is now a member of the firm, which is known as Charles Schenkemeyer & Sons, and they conduct one of the most successful business enterprises in the City of Johnstown. In 1904 William Schenkemeyer was united in marriage with Miss Daisy May Shannon, of Johnstown. To them three children have been born; Alma, a graduate of Johnstown High School and Pennsylvania State Normal School, a teacher in the schools of Johnstown, married Daniel Auchenbaugh; Robert and William Lee, both students.
Charles Schenkemeyer, Jr., was married Dec. 25, 1913, to Miss Merle Menser, of Johnstown, and they have two children: Lois and John.
Edward Schenkemeyer was married in 1914 to Miss Lena Hersche, a native of Germany. They have three children: Edward Jr., Clifford and Charles, all at home.
The Schenkemeyer family hold membership in the Lutheran Church and are highly esteemed in the community where they have spent so many years.
Andrew R. Urban is well and favorably known in Johnstown, where he is identified with the Troy Laundry. He was born in Austria Hungry in 1876, and is the son of Andrew R. and Barbara (Urban) Urban.
Andrew R. Urban emigrated to this country from Austria-Hungary at an early date and settled in Youngstown, Pa., where he has since resided. He has been identified with H.C. Frick Coal Company of that place and is well known. He is a Democrat and a member of the Catholic Church. To Mr. and Mrs. Urban the following children were born: Andrew R. Jr., the subject of the sketch; Mary, married Henry Marcinko, lives at Youngstown. Pa.; Albert, lives in Johnstown; and Paul, at home.
Andrew R. Urban received his education in his native land and in 188 came here with his parents and lived at Youngstown for a number of years, where he was connected with the Cressen Brewing Company. In December, 1906, he removed to Johnstown and engaged in the hotel business at 305 Strayer Street for 13 years. On June 28, 1920, he became owner and proprietor of the Troy Laundry, which he has since conducted in a highly successful manner. It is modernly equipped and employs approximately 55 people and operates for trucks.
