served as a member of the Medical Reserve Corps with the rank of first lieutenant. He is a member of the Cambria County, Pennsylvania State, and American Medical Associations, and is associate surgeon on the staff of Mercy Hospital. He has recently reigned as secretary of the hospital staff.
    On Sept. 15, 1925, Doctor Murray was united in marriage with Miss Mary E. McAteer, of Johnstown.
    Doctor Murray is a Democrat, a member of the Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. As a physician and as a citizen he ranks high in the community.




    Herman A. Malzi, justice of the peace, is well and favorably known in Johnstown. He was born at Comemaugh, Pa., April 27, 1881, and is the son of William and Emma (Wolford) Malzi.
    William Malzi, deceased, was a native in Johnstown, where he engaged in the meat business for many years. He died in November, 1924, and his wife, a native of Somerset County, died Dec. 30, 1924. They are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery. To Mr. and Mrs. Malzi eight children were born, as follows: Laura, married Joseph Heaton, lives in Johnstown; Herman A., the subject of this sketch; William, lives in Cambria County; Mary, married Vincent Sedlemyer, lives in Cambria County; Gertrude, marries Leo Foltz, lives in Cambria County; Bertha, married Daniel McCallister, deceased; Carolotta, married Frank Motter, lives at Franklin, Pa., and Irene, deceased.
    After completing his schooling in the schools of Conemaugh Township, Herman A. Malzi engaged in business with his father in Johnstown. Later he learned the carpenter trade, and is now successfully engaged in the building and contracting business. He has served as justice of the peace since Jan. 1, 1924. Previous to this time he had served as constable of Conemaugh Township for 15 years and also as detective for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
    On Jan. 29, 1905, Mr. Malzi was united in marriage with Miss Frances Jackson, who was born as Grove City, Mercer County, Pa., Oct., 23, 1883. They have four children: Chester, Mathew, Harold and Agnes.
    Mr. Malzi is a Republican, a member of the Catholic Church, and is identified with the Loyal Order of the Moose and Sons of Veterans. He is a substantial citizen of the community.
