Theodore Svitil is an enterprising and progressive business man of Johnstown, where he is engaged in the manufacture of instruments. He is a native of Hungary, born Oct. 30, 1869. Clifford M. Sell is a energetic young business man of Johnstown, where he conducts an extensive sign painting business. He was born in this city, Sept. 14, 1897, and is the son of George M. and Catherine (Homer) Sell. George M. Sell is a native of Cambria County, as is his wife. He was associated with the Loraine Steel Company for a number of years, but is now identified with the Prudential Life Insurance Company in Johnstown. Mr. and Mrs. Sell have eight children as follows: Clifford M., the subject of this sketch; Florence, married Richard Hughes, lives in Johnstown; Beatrice, lives at home; Sarah, at home; Anna, married Charles Elvin, lives in Johnstown; Ray, Catherine and Mary, all at home. Clifford M. Sell attended the public schools of Johnstown and in 1914 became interested in the sign painting trade, and in 1921 established his present business. He has a well equipped shop and does a large volume of business. On Aug. 14, 1919, Mr. Sell was united in marriage with Miss Ilse Meise, of Pittsburgh, and they have five children: Clifford M., Jr.; Carman, deceased; Donald; Lois Jean; and James Edwin. Mr. Sell is a Republican, a member of the Grove Avenue Methodist Church, Knights of Pythias, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and Loyal Order of Moose. |
