the Catholic Church. They had nine children, all of whom are deceased except Thomas F., the subject of this sketch. Herbert Stack, superintendent of secondary schools of Johnstown, is among the well known educators of Cambria County. He was born at Orange, Mass., March 29, 1892, and is the son of William James and Nellie Ellen (McGrath) Stack. William James Stack was born at Amherst, Mass., and spent his entire life in that state. He is a hotel keeper and lives at Springfield, Mass. His wife, who was born at Hadley, Mass., died Jan. 28, 1920. To Mr. and Mrs. Stack were born vive children: Edward William, advertising manager of the Indian Motorcycle Company, Springfield, Mass.; Charles T., superintendent of the Chase Turbine Manufacturing Company, Orange, Mass.; Elizabeth, married Henry Brown, lives at New Britain, Conn.; Herbert, the subject of this sketch; and John P., a student.
