the Hager Building on Adams Street, and in 1917 Mr. Replogle removed to his present location, 438 Horner Street.
    Mr. Replogle specializes in the storage of household and mercantile goods, as well as the transfer business.
    On Sept. 13, 1895, Mr. Replogle was married to Miss Florence J. Cover, a daughter of Josiah and Amanda (Stufft) Cover. The name of Cover, originally and still occasionally as Coover, has been closely identified with the history and growth of Cambria County, as well as the State of Pennsylvania. The American ancestry of the family settled at Germantown, having emigrated to the United States from Germany. To I. D. and Florence J. (Cover) Replogle have been born nine children as follows: Della, married Albert Custer, a Johnstown druggist, and they have two children, Dorothy and Ray; C. J. lives in Cleveland; Floda, married Charles Stahl, lives in Johnstown; Burton, Robert, Harry, Carl, Glenn and Melvin, all at home.
    Mr. Replogle is a Republican and a member of the First Brethren Church. He is a substantial citizen of the community.




    William H. Roof, the efficient and highly esteemed fire chief, Engine Company No. 7, Stony Creek Street, Johnstown Fire Department, is a native of Pennsylvania. He was born in Howard, Center County, Pa., Aug. 17, 1879, and is a son of John and Mary Ellen (Dearment) Roof.
    Both John and Mary Ellen (Dearment) Roof were born at Green wood Furnace, Pa. After receiving a common school education Mr. Roof went to work for a steel company in his home town, and learned that business. Later he went with the Cambria Iron Works at their stone quarry, located at Birmingham, Pa. He was killed by an explosion at this quarry in 1887, and is buried at Birmingham, Pa. His widow resides at Oakhurst, Johnstown. Mr. Roof was an active church worker and held many church offices. He was a member of the United Brethren Church and in politics was a Republican.
    William H. Roof received his education in the public schools of Birmingham, Pa. After leaving school he went to work in a stone quarry, and in 1898 he came to Johnstown and worked for the Cambria Iron Works as a hammer man and craneman. For a time he was employed on the railroad. In 1903 he was appointed to the Johnstown police force by Mayor
