natives of Somerset County, where he was pastor of the Brethren Church. He is deceased and is buried at Johnstown. His widow resides in this city. To Mr. and Mrs. Lewis three children have been born: William Vernon, born in September, 1914, a student; Irene Jane, born in March, 1917, a student; and Robert Clare, born June 24, 1918.
    Mr. Lewis is a Republican, a member of the Church of Morrellville, Knights of Pythias, and Junior Order of United American Mechanics. He is an energetic and capable young business man and stand high in his community.




    John E. Rager, the well known proprietor of the Club Billiard Parlors, 240 Franklin Street, Johnstown, is a native of this city. He was born March 10, 1883, and is a son of Henry and Emma (Bowser) Rager.
    Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rager were born in Cambria County. When a young man Henry Rager stated work as an apprentice with the Cambria Iron Works and learned straightening rails and other steel processes. He worked for this company for over 40 years and is now living retired in Johnstown. He is a Republican and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Rager died in 1893 and is buried in Benshoff Cemetery, Johnstown. To Mr. and Mrs. Rager nine children were born: Molly, George, and Sam, all deceased, are buried in Benshoff Cemetery; Pearl, married Edward Saints, resides in Johnstown; Mabel, married Willis McFeeters, resides in Johnstown; Rebecca, married W. Saints, resides in Johnstown; Frank, married Florence Dill, resides in Johnstown; Millard, resides in Johnstown; and John E., the subject of this sketch.
    John E. Rager received his education in the public schools of Johnstown, and began his business life as an apprentice with the Cambria Steel Company, learning his father's trade. He remained with this company for a few years and then established a billiard parlor on Fairfield Avenue, Johnstown, which he successfully conducted for 14 years. He purchased his present billiard parlor, which was officially opened Nov. 28, 1925. He has a most modern parlor and operated 10 pool tables and three billiard tables. In addition to these he carries a high-grade line of confections, tobaccos, and soft drinks.
    Mr. Rager was married in 1906 to Miss Lillian Powell, a daughter of Sylvester and Rebecca Powell, of New Kensington, Pa. Mr. Powell is
