JAMES REILLY
James Reilly died at the home of his son-in-law, John Plunkett, Tuesday, May 18, of diseases incident to old age.
Mr. Reilly was born in County Cavan Ireland, eighty three years ago. He came to America when nineteen years old and came to this vicinity fifty years ago. He was employed as a brakeman on the railroad afterwards taking up farming which occupation he followed until a few years ago.
In April 1854, he was married to Miss Mary McElanamy (McAtamany), at Summit by the Rev. Father McCullough. To this union eleven children were born, of whom three survive: Lewis, of Erin, Col.; Barney, of Gallitzin, and William of Gallitzin township.
Mrs. Reilly still survives as do twenty-nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two brothers John and Phillip reside at Altoona.
The funeral was held Thursday morning at nine o'clock under the direction of Undertaker Stevens of Ashville. After high mass at St. Patrick's church, interment was made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. |
