Aged Couple Die At Carrolltown
Only Short Time Elapses Between Demise of Each Other--Were Long Time Residents of That Vicinity
Mrs. Catharine Kirkpatrick, aged 76, and her husband James Kirkpatrick, aged 80, died at their home in Carrolltown Tuesday within two hours of each other. Mrs. Kirkpatrick died at 12 o'clock and her husband at 1:45. Mr. Kirkpatrick had been confined to bed for a week by a complication of diseases and his death was not unexpected. Mrs. Kirkpatrick had been bedfast only since Saturday when she was taken down by worry and the attendance at the bedside of her husband.
Mr. Kirkpatrick was born on a farm in Carroll Township and was a son of James and Mary Kirkpatrick. He was a farmer by occupation and retired only a few years ago and was moved to Carrolltown. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born at Cresson and was a daughter of Samuel and Susan Noel Dillon. She was married to Mr. Kirkpatrick at Carrolltown, August 23, 1861.
Mr. Kirkpatrick leaves two brothers and a sister--August, of Pittsburg, Thomas, of Carroll Township, Mrs. Philip Hoover, of Carrolltown. Mrs. Kirkpatrick leaves one brother, John A. Dillon, of Hastings. The surviving children are Mrs. Louis Dietrich, Chest Township; S.P. Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Stephen Campbell, Carrolltown; P.F. and A.J. Kirkpatrick, Carroll Township; and Adolph, Carrolltown.
The funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock and burial will be in St. Benedict's cemetery at Carrolltown. |
