DEATH CAUSED BY HEAT
Sixth Ward Resident Suddenly Expires While at Work in Cambria Boiler Room
Zachariah J. T. Lehman, of No. 784 Napoleon street, Sixth ward, died of heat prostration at the boiler room of one of the Cambria Steel Company's mills on Saturday evening. Mr. Lehman, who was in his sixty-second year, was a water tender at the boiler house and left his home between 5 and 6 o'clock for the mills. After drawing the fires preparatory to shutting down for Sunday he was overcome by heat and was found a short time later by a fellow-employee named Wissinger. The remains were turned over to Undertaker Pendry, who conveyed them to the Lehman residence. the funeral will take place at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon, when services will be conducted by the Rev. G. C. McDowell, pastor of the Willow street U.E. Church. Interment will be made in Grand-View Cemetery. The deceased was born in Shade Township, Somerset County, in 1848, being a son of John and Susan Lehman, who removed to Johnstown in 1864. Zachariah Lehman was employed for a while at Wood, Morrell & Company's store before going to work in the Cambria mills. In 1874 Mr. Lehman and Miss Katherine Blough were united in marriage here by Rev. Mr. Wakefield, a Methodist minister. Mrs. Lehman survives her husband, with two daughters and a son - Elsie, wife of Herman B. Williams of Loraine; Miss Gertrude, at home, and Harry, of No. 749 Robb avenue. Mr. Lehman was a brother of Mrs. Levi J. Ripple, of Franklin street; Mrs. William Foust, of Napoleon street; Mrs. Lewis Custer, of Holsopple; Miss Elizabeth Lehman, of Land street; Levi Lehman, of Los Angeles, Cal., and Frank Lehman, of Somerset County. |
