DAVID A. BURTNETT IS DEAD AT WINDBER

Former Cambria County Soldier Passes Away at Daughter's Home, in his 73rd Year

Windber, Oct. 1--David A. Burtnett, who served two enlistments in Johnstown companies during the Civil War, expired here at 5:45 o'clock, this morning after an illness of a complication of diseases lasting several years. Mr. Burtnett made his home here with his daughter, Mrs. W. E. Maeder, Graham Avenue and 11th Street.

Funeral services will be held at the Maeder here tomorrow evening and the remains will be taken to South Fork on Sunday afternoon for burial. The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. J. Z. A. Curry, of Johnstown, to be assisted by the Rev. L. R. Hetrick, the new pastor of the local United Evangelical Church.

The deceased was born in Croyle Township in Cambria County, and made his home in Johnstown many years ago. His first enlistment in the arm was in Company F, 21st Cavalry, Pennsylvania Volunteers, under the late Capt. Richard Ryckman, and his second was in Company F, 198th Regiment, P.V.I., under Capt. Powell Stackhouse, now Wallingford.

The deceased and Miss Catherine Dunmyre, sister of Israel Dunmyre, of Johnstown, were married many years ago at Summerhill. Mrs. Burtnett survives her husband, with a daughter, Mrs. Maeder; a brother, Henry, of South Fork, and two sisters, Mrs. James Horner, of Moxham, Johnstown, and one living in the State of Missouri. Mr. Burtnett was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, the Knights of Malta, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
