Sarah F. Horner, wife of John H. Horner, died at noon today at the Horner home, 423 Vickroy Avenue, Ferndale Borough, after a long illness, of a complication of diseases. She had been bedfast for a week or so.
The deceased was born in Dibertsville, Somerset County, 1865, and was married to John H. Horner in October, 1887, by the Rev. Samuel Stouffer, of the Lutheran Church. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Miller, a veteran of the Civil War, and Mrs. Priscilla Miller, the latter being in her 80th year. Mrs. Horner was a sister of Mrs. Ida Hemminger, of Ralphton, with whom Mrs. Priscilla Miller makes her home. Mrs. Dollie Kelly of St. Louis, Mrs. Lillian Carroll, of Pittsburg, and Mrs. Ida Lehman, of Illinois.
Mr. Horner survives his wife, wife two sons and three daughters--Burchell Horner of 405 Ferndale Avenue; George Horner, at home; Laura, wife of Minerd Wingard of Ferndale; Ida, wife of David Hildebrand, of 547 Harlan Avenue, and Elda, wife of Hobart Thomas, of Jerome. Mrs. Horner is also survived by six grandchildren.
She was a member of the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jenners Township, Somerset County, and was an attendant at the services at the Moxham Lutheran Church during her residence in this city. Funeral services will be held at the Horner home at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, after which the funeral party will proceed to the Mt. Zion church for additional services and burial at the church cemetery.
